relearning piano

My husband used to play piano when he was younger. He has forgotten most of the piano chords he learned though. Now that we have a daughter who loves to always run around singing and playing her toy piano, he has considered learning piano again so that he can teach our daughter how to play. I wonder if after all these years is there a quicker and easier way for him to pick all those piano chords that he used to know without going back to the basics. Really what my husband would like to learn is how to play by ear and master some of his new favorite tunes on piano.

He is really looking forward to sharing what he'd learned with my daughter as she grows. Maybe she will really enjoy piano with her singing and grow up learning the art of music that she seems to enjoy so much at her young age.
