One glaring thing that I noticed when I got here in the US are the well-paved roads, and they are all wide, too. I was like, "Oh, wow!" Time and again, you can always see men with their big equipment (which I am sure have high strength fasteners for highway, and all its anchor bolts and more industrial bolts that goes with it) repairing and constructing highways.
I just can't help but compare this to my native land which is the Philippines. Not only that not all roads are well-paved but they are also very narrow especially those in remote places. I mean I really don't mind the bouncy ride (because I still think it is fun.), it's just the dust that I can't take. I can just ask, how come the US has been able to pave their roads when it is about a hundred times bigger than the Philippines? (sigh) I truly hope and pray that transportation and infrastructure will get better in the Philippines for though how bad most of the roads there, I still miss and love my birthplace.
