I found a good read from my favorite site. It is about how kids learn one family value which is patience. I thought that it is important to instill this virtue while they are still young. But how? That is the big question. It is said that developing patience takes time. It is the ability to endure a difficult situation without complaining. So, here’s one tip to raise a patient child.
MAKE A WISH LIST
When your child has a bad case of the “gimmes” and demands a toy right away, acknowledge the wish (“You wish you could have that toy right now”). Have your child add it to a “wish list” of presents he or she might receive at the next birthday or gift-giving holiday. The simple act of writing down (or drawing or cutting out a magazine picture of the present) gives your child control and increases patience.
Isn’t that helpful especially to us as parents? We also have to always tell them that some things are worth waiting for. To add, this not only applies to children but to us as well, too. Have a good one all!
