Do you know that Avocado is considered as one of the healthiest foods? Surprisingly, these luscious green fruits are full of heart-healthy monounsaturated fat that can help lower both total and “bad” cholesterol. They contain health-promoting caretenoids, rich in Vitamin E and Potassium, and contain some fiber to help fill you up.
Anyways, here are more facts about Avocados:
- They contain plant chemicals and antioxidants, all of which contribute to good health.
- A medium size of the fruit has 30 grams of fat and even though it is the healthy kind, it can add lots of extra calories if you don’t watch your portion size and balance it with other wise food choices.
Here are some tips on how to prepare the fruit:
- Slice avocados into salads;
- Float slices or cubes of avocado on top of soups; or
- Use avocado instead of butter, cream cheese, or mayonnaise on breads, bagels, and sandwiches.
